Four Roadrunners Verbally Commit to Universities

Four Butte College student athletes: Tyler Molder, Scott Avery, Jake Chappelle and Jacob Angelo have earned baseball scholarships and will transfer to several universities. 

Tyler Molder attended Butte College after graduating from North Valley High School in Nevada. In his sophomore year, Tyler was named to the All-Conference Team and finished the year 5-2 with 2 saves (3.65 ERA) in 15 appearances.  He is signing with York College in Nebraska.

Scott Avery, Red Bluff, has been a key piece to the pitching staff this season. Scott led the staff in 8 starts and innings pitched with 66. For his efforts he was selected First Team All-Conference. Avery will be attending Eastern New Mexico University where he will play for Coach Chris Terry.

 
First baseman Jake Chappelle, a graduate from  Heritage High School in Brentwood, led the team in home runs (3) and was second with number of doubles (8) before cutting his season short with an ankle sprain. He will sign with Culver-Stockton College in Missouri.

Team leader Jacob Angelo from Sierra High School was steady at second base where he posted a .960 fielding percentage. An integral part to the 2012 season, Angelo plans to attend Culver-Stockton College.

“We are excited and proud of our students who are able to get the opportunity to compete at the next level. Our goal as a coaching staff is to get our players ready to move on to the next level as well as getting them ready to succeed in life. It just doesn’t get any better to earn a college degree and play baseball while doing so,” said Anthony Ferro, Butte College baseball head coach.

Seven Roadrunners selected to GVC All-Conference Team

Three Butte College baseball players: pitcher Scott Avery, pitcher Tyler Molder, and outfielder Ryan Zirkle were named to the 2012 All-Conference team.

Additionally, four Roadrunners received second team All-Conference, including: left handed pitcher Kyle LaClaire, infielder Seth Davis, first baseman Ryan Brown, and designated hitter Hunter Graves.

The Golden Valley Championship also released its All-Academic team and Butte College’s Quentin Rocha was honored. For a complete list of both teams visit www.CCCBCA.com
