Advanced Placement Exams


Students may earn credit for any of the following Advanced Placement (AP) exams in which they earn a score of 3 or higher.

  • The number of units awarded and where they will be applied toward the Associate Degree is listed below.
  • Score reports need to be presented to the Assessment Office for evaluation and then will be forwarded to the Admissions and Records Office for posting of the college credit on the student’s transcript.
  • If the student is planning to transfer to another institution, he/she will need to pursue the award of credit from the subsequent college.

English Language and Composition * 6 ENGL 2, Area D - plus three additional units in Area D
English Literature and Composition * 6 ENGL 2 and 8 (3 units each), Areas D and C respectively
Government and Politics--Comparative 3 Area B - 3 units
Government and Politics--U.S. 3 Area B - 3 units
History - European 3 Area B - 3 units
History - U.S. 6 HIST 8 and 10 (3 units each), Area B
Language Exams (any) 6 Area C - 6 units
Music - Theory 6 Area C - 6 units
Physics B 6 PHYS 21 and 22, Area A (6 units max.)
Physics C 6 PHYS 41 and 42, Area A (6 units max.)
Psychology 3 Area B - 3 units
Spanish - Literature 6 Area C - 6 units
Statistics 3 Math 18 (3 units)

*If a student submits both of these exams with passing scores, the maximum units granted will be nine (9).
