Asian Students Association

The purpose of the Asian Students Association is to encourage and promote multicultural awareness within the campus and larger community. Asian cultures and traditions are honored through educational, cultural and social events such as multicultural fashion shows, dances and food fundraisers. The ASA is committed to the education and understanding of all students and their cultural backgrounds. Membership is open to all students who are interested in learning and contributing toward community diversity.

Butte College Ag Ambassadors

The mission of the Agriculture Ambassadors is community service, outreach, and socialization for students within the community and fundraising activities to support the leadership functions on a state and national level. The club is involved with Farm City Week, FFA Field Days, campus wide BBQ’s, attends the national conference held at different universities each January and the state conference held in September. Teamwork, communication, group dynamics, human interactions and parliamentary procedure are included as learning activities for club members.

Butte College Anthropology Club

The purpose of the Anthropology Club is to educate and introduce to the students of Butte College, local elementary, junior high and school students, as well as the general public, to the field of Anthropology through lectures, exhibits, and hands-on field trips.

Butte College Applied Science Club

The Applied Science Club at Butte College seeks to enrich and expand the experience of students of math, science and engineering. The Club creates a learning community by holding informal study sessions in which students network with one another, sharing knowledge and resources. In addition, the Club plans to conduct community outreach activities, including tutoring and scientific demonstrations for local K-12 schools, as well as projects to improve the Butte College campus.

Butte College German Club

Our purpose as the Butte College German Club is to increase awareness of German language and culture and create a German community on campus. In working towards these goals, we support the development of language learners and encourage involvement with campus programs. Butte College Motorsport Club

To expose Butte College students to motorsports from the standpoint of the race team, the racecar, the racetrack and the community in which they co-exist. The club members will participate in the building and maintenance of racecars, and help to successfully campaign the cars in SCCA and NASA road racing. Students can’t drive the car.

Butte College Sports Medicine Club

Their mission statement is to increase the knowledge of Butte College students and the community regarding the professionals that makes up sports medicine (i.e. athletic training, orthopedics, general medicine, physical therapy, strength and conditioning, etc.). The use of guest speakers, in-service, internships, field trips and school functions to increase this knowledge. Members will be prepared to succeed onto the next level of education and towards their profession.

Butte College Students for Animal Rights

BCSFAR focuses on exposing and educating students about the industries and social norms that exploit sentient animals for the purpose of human pleasure and convenience. We discuss the ethical, environmental, and health concerns that arise from the exploitation of non-human animals for food, clothing, and enter-tainment. We investigate diverse media such as films, brochures, news articles, personal observations, internal reflections, etc. with the goal of influencing posi-tive change. We promote safe and sustainable lifestyle models of conscious and conscientious choices. We explore culinary alternatives and encourage mem-bers of the community to participate. Finally, we instate this club as part of the peace movement, extending the resolution of conflict between humans to the promotion of peace between all members of our moral community.

Culture and Civilization Club

The Butte College Culture and Civilizations Club is associated with the Honors Program. Nonetheless, all Butte College students are invited to join the club and participate in our activities regardless of whether or not they are also taking Honors courses. The primary purpose of the club is to improve and perpetuate the Honors Program, as well as promote academic growth and development at Butte College in general. Environmental Horticulture Club

The Environmental Horticulture Club is made up of people who are interested in plants and the horticulture industry. The club members participate in field trips and public services, and they learn about the growing, selling, and marketing of plants. All of these things are put into practice during the plant sales, which are conducted on campus.

Friends of the Wildlife Refuge at Butte College

All are welcome to join us in exploring, learning about, and helping to restore the Wildlife Refuge at Butte College. We hold regular meetings and hikes on the main campus. We have adopted a restoration area on Clear Creek where we remove invasive plants and replant with natives. We also monitor the water quality at two sites on our creek. We participate in Earth Days, Energy Awareness Days, and the Campus Clean-up.

International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP)

IAAP is a non-profit professional association with 40,000 members and affiliates in 700 chapters worldwide. Its members include computer specialists, administrative assistants, office coordinators, information specialists, and related administrative professionals. Butte College has a Student Chapter of IAAP, which provides student members the opportunity to explore their chose career field. Students receive free membership in the International Association of Administrative Professionals, which looks impressive on a resume. Activities include taking field trips to local businesses, attending conferences, developing leadership skills, performing community service, participating in campus events, and hearing speakers and networking with locally employed administrative professionals at the monthly dinner meetings of the local Chico IAAP Chapter. Students do fundraising in an effort to attend the annual summer convention, which is in a different state each summer. Students have gone to Denver and Reno for past conventions.

International Club

The International Club is for domestic and international students interested in social, cultural, recreational and educational activities that increase the interac-tion between international and domestic students. The club aims to welcome new international students and help international students adjust to life at Butte College. Club activities have included hiking, potlucks and restaurant dinners, interclub activities, a camping trip near Fort Bragg, a day trip to San Francisco, hosting international week, and the club meetings to plan various events.

The Literary Arts Club intends to produce a journal for the arts. The National Student Nurse’s Association is an organization designed for nursing students or future nursing students who have a desire to advance their knowledge of the nursing profession, and become a part of a group. The club does community service projects (Alzheimelr’s Memory Walk in October), and does fund raising that allows nursing students to attend the California Student Nurses Association Convention every year.

The Butte College Native American Indian Club (BCAIC) is dedicated to promote the ideals of higher education. Phi Theta Kappa

Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society for community college students. Our local chapter, Beta Theta Kappa, is engaged in a number of activities under the four hallmarks of “Leadership, Service, Fellowship and Scholarship.” To be eligible for Phi Theta Kappa, a student must have completed at least 12 associate-degree applicable units (numbered from 1 to 199) here at Butte College, with a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.5. He or she is then invited to affiliate with Phi Theta Kappa. Although many members of Beta Theta Kappa are also enrolled in Butte College’s Honors Program, this is not a requirement.

STOP (Stop Trafficking of Persons)

STOP is committed to bringing awareness of global human trafficking and modern day slavery to Butte College. We will encourage and practice nonviolence to establish a sustainable anti-human trafficking movement. We are dedicated to creating innovative thoughtful programs and approaches, and to encourage effective action aimed at achieving our goals. We will have monthly movie nights for students and the community that will inform them about the atrocities of human trafficking and what we can do to help end it. The movies will be followed by discussion aimed at building connections and empowerment to achieve our goals
