Interlibrary Loan

The Interlibrary Loan service supplements the resources of Butte College Library by obtaining materials from other libraries. This service is available to current Butte College students, staff and faculty members. This service should be used to request titles which are not currently held in the Butte College Library collection or not available electronically in full text.

To request a book through Interlibrary Loan, please complete the book request form. To request an article from a magazine, newspaper, or journal, please complete the article request form. Once your request has been processed, you will receive an e-mail confirming the transaction. When your requested item is received from the lending library, it will be held at Interlibrary Loan on the first floor of the Library and you will be notified by phone or email.

Policies for Butte College patrons

  1. Interlibrary loan services are available to current Butte College staff and currently enrolled students.
  2. Patron will fill out a Butte College Library interlibrary loan form (in person or online).
  3. Patrons are limited to 5 simultaneous requests, including those already filled or in process.
  4. The library will notify the patron when the item requested arrives, but it is the patron´s responsibility to check on and pick up the item. Patron will show valid identification when checking out an interlibrary loan.
  5. Article requests require the patron to indicate the dollar amount he is willing to pay. Patrons who fail to pay the owed amount will have the amount charged to their college accounts.
  6. Patrons are expected to return interlibrary loan books by the due date. Failure to do so may result in a hold being placed on their accounts until the book is returned. Patrons may also be liable for overdue charges at the regular Butte College Library rate ($.25 per day) and for any charges established by the lending library.
  7. If the book is lost, the charge will be set by the lending library, and the patron will be responsible for that entire amount. NOTE: These are not our books. A book may be considered lost when the lending library decides to call it lost. Thus, excessive delay in returning interlibrary loans is strongly discouraged.
  8. All financial transactions will be through check or money order, not cash.
  9. Noncompliance with these policies may jeopardize the patron´s interlibrary loan privileges.
