Withdrawal from all courses: Students who wish to withdraw from all courses must have an exit interview with a counselor.
The counselor may grant permission to withdraw from all courses by signing the back of the student’s completed class schedule card. Instructors will be notified by form letter when students withdraw from all classes through the Counseling Department. Students must have a serious and compelling reason to withdraw. See page 49 of the current Butte College Catalog for details and a list of the types of situations which may be defined as “serious and compelling” reasons to withdraw. Counselors may initiate the withdrawal process for students who are unable to do so themselves. (Emergency situations only, accident, serious illness).
Counselors will print student’s name on signature line of the drop card and sign just below it. They will sign the reverse side of the card, and submit it to Admissions and Records. Paperwork must be received in Admissions and Records by 5:00 pm on the last day of the semester.
Short term or Block class refund date is 10%. This is often prior to or on the first day of class. Follow the percentages noted above for drop, withdrawal and petition dates.
NOTE: A student’s drop or withdrawal date is considered to be the date a drop card is received from a student by Admissions
and Records or the last date of attendance (must be within the first 8 weeks) indicated by the instructor on the roster.
B: To ADD courses after the first two weeks of the semester:
After Aug. 31, students must obtain signature of instructor and department Dean with the first day of attendance noted on an add
card. This card must then be submitted promptly to Admissions and Records. Signatures expire within 2 weeks. Instructors may
not allow students to attend class after Aug. 31 unless officially enrolled.
