How to Get Involved
If you would like to expand your college experience, consider getting involved in one or more of the many social, recreational, cultural & education clubs, programs or committees on campus.
The Associated Students (AS) is your opportunity to represent and serve your fellow students by getting involved in student advocacy and campus events. The A.S. Board is made up of students chosen through elections. There are 17 positions including officers, coordinators and representatives. The AS Board meets the second and fourth, Tuesday of the month during the school year from 2pm to 4pm in the President's side of the Boardroom. The Associated Students have 6 core functions:
Represent Students
- Serve on campus committees as the designated "student voice" when making important college decisions and policies
- Respond to relevant student issues presented to the AS
- Participate in events and conferences sponsored by CCCSAA or CalSACC student organizations
- Monitor campus issues and policies
Keep Students Informed
- Coordinate informational forums for students
- Inform students of pertinent college issues and policies
Manage AS Funds
- Establish budgets and maintain records for Rep Fee, Student Activity and General Reserve Accounts
- Collect proposals and distribute funds for appropriate student and college requests
Respond to College Issues / Needs
- Appoint student reps to serve on college committees
- Facilitate student participation in issues
Coordinate Campus Events
- Coordinate social, cultural and informational events
Encourage Student Leadership Development
- Coordinate events and opportunities that help develop the leadership capacity of students
- Provide scholarships to honor student leaders
