Summer Hours: Monday - Thursday 7:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Closed Fridays

The Assessment Office establishes basic skill placement levels in reading, English and math for entering students. Computerized placement files are maintained and linked to registration allowing for a smooth enrollment into classes. You are responsible to either complete the Basic Skills Assessment (BSA) or provide documentation for evaluation of transcripts with previously completed college course work, or placement tests from other California colleges, or a degree from another institution. Test accommodations are provided for students with disabilities and students whose primary language is not English. In addition, an English as a Second Language (ESL) Assessment is available for students interested in the Butte College ESL courses. An interpretation of basic skill placement levels and course eligibility is provided to assist students in understanding their results and in making their course selections.
