Dan has a private practice and works with children with serious psychological problems and is devoted to training therapists and speaking with groups of professionals and parents in the US, Canada, UK, and Australia.

Many parents face great challenges of behavior and emotional resistance from children who have suffered serious psychological problems due to histories of abuse, neglect, and/or multiple placements. For the past 20 years, Dan Hughes, Ph.D. has specialized in the treatment of hurt children who manifest significant challenges in their emotional, cognitive and behavioral development, and demonstrate considerable difficulty establishing and maintaining secure relationships. Dan will share his Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy model, a family-bases; child focused relationship-building approach to building positive and sustained attachments for traumatized children. His model blends various approaches in a treatment modality that actively communicates empathy and acceptance for the child, provides comfort and containment, while exploring past trauma and shame-related experiences. Join us for this two day workshop that will help you understand the deep and lasting impact of early trauma and provide guidance and hope for moving hurt children to positive and lasting relationships with their foster, adoptive, and/or kinship parents and other significant individuals in their lives.

Foster Parents and Kinship Care Providers Have Seating Priority In This Two Day Workshop!!
