The Center for Academic Success (CAS) is located on the second (main) floor of the Learning Resource Center. Our goal is to support Butte College students and help them reach their academic and professional goals. We offer individual tutoring in most subject areas, study skills workshops taught by Butte College instructors, a Reading and Writing Center, tutor-supported computer labs, group study rooms, test proctoring for make-up tests, and a comfortable area to read or study. Tutoring for many subject areas is available on a drop-in basis. Schedules for drop-in tutors are posted outside the CAS main entrance. For specific schedule information, call the CAS general information line, 895-2386, or the CAS Secretary, Amy Hughes, at 895-2808. Critical Skills Workshops, held on main campus and at the Chico Center, are free for all students, and no pre-registration is necessary. Learn how to take advantage of your learning style preferences, how to write a research paper, how to deal with test anxiety, and a host of other topics. Our Tutor-Supported Computer labs, located in LRC 224 and LRC 143 on main campus and in CHC 232 at the Chico Center, offer PCs for drop-in use. See the CAS Hours page for specific hours the labs are available for student use. Group Study Rooms can be reserved by students for a single use or for a specific time each week on a first-come, first-served basis. CAS offers Test Proctoring services for the main campus. See the CAS Hours page for times and other information on testing services. Instructors may be interested in a brief classroom orientation for their students or bringing a group in for a CAS tour. Please contact Ann Shannon, Learning Resource Specialist, for more information, or to make specific arrangements for your class: shannonan@butte.edu, 895-2306.
