Information about Workshops, Rooms, and Labs Supported by CAS
CAS Critical Skills Workshops take place throughout the semester in Room LRC 223 on Main Campus and in the classroom listed on the schedule at the Chico Center. All students, faculty, and staff are welcome at these workshops. No pre-registration is necessary. Students may pick up a copy of the Critical Skills Workshop schedules at the front entrance to CAS on Main Campus and at the counter of the Academic Support Services Center on the 2nd floor of the Chico Center.
Inside the Center for Academic Success are a variety of rooms available for faculty or students to reserve:
LRC 207, 208, 209, 211, 212, 214, 215, and 218 are Group Study Rooms. They seat from four to to ten people comfortably at small, mobile tables. These rooms are primarily used for student study groups and Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions, but are also suitable for staff and faculty meetings. The rooms have dry-erase boards. We also have a VCR/DVD player, which is available as needed. The current schedules are posted outside the rooms. Contact Amy Hughes at 895-2808 or hughesam@butte.edu to check the schedule or to reserve these rooms.
Fall 2003 Student Athletes work with tutor Sunniva in a Group Study Room.
LRC 282 is a Faculty Office Space. This room, located at the end of the full-time faculty office hall on the main floor of the LRC, has four drop-in computer workstations, plus two computer workstations that can be reserved for up to two hours per week. Any member of the Associate Faculty can hold regular office hours in this space by reserving one of the workstations at the beginning of the semester, on a first-come, first-served basis. In this room there are also a phone, printer, and file cabinet for storage of papers and forms. For additional space where faculty may meet with a student or groups of students, LRC 210, which is located inside CAS, is also available on a drop-in basis, or it can be reserved ahead. A VCR/DVD player is available as needed. Contact Amy Hughes at 895-2808 or hughesam@butte.edu to check the schedule, request regular office hours, or reserve rooms for one-time use.
CAS also supports the following computer labs:
LRC 224 is the main CAS drop-in Computer Lab, located inside CAS. It is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:45 pm. Students interested in using this lab must check in at the CAS front desk. Computer Tutors are scheduled to support student use across the curriculum in both these labs.
