Employment Opportunities in the Center for Academic Success

CAS employees are friendly, reliable, and supportive of student success. If you have these qualities and are interested in a job at Butte College, please stop by and fill out an application.

Student Employees:

Current Pay Rate: $6.75 per hour (CA minimum wage)
The Center for Academic Success hires Butte College students as Student Assistants and Student Tutors. Our Student Tutors support students on Main Campus, at the Chico Center, and at the Glenn County Center. If you have a minimum of 6 units, you may apply in person in LB 208. Ask for Amy. (Applicants in Chico can see Dan or Angela in the MDLC/CAS shared space.)

Most hiring is done at the end of the semester for the next semester, but applications are always accepted. Student Tutors are required to obtain a written recommendation from a Butte College instructor in the subject area they wish to tutor. New tutors must participate in a pre-semester training workshop or enroll in the online class: EDUC 20 -- Tutoring Methods. See information in the course catalog or schedule.

Fall 2003 Student Assistants Keng and Chue greet students.

Non-Student Tutors:
Our Reading and Writing Center is staffed by Instructional Aides, Interns, and Volunteers:

Instructional Aides are permanent, part-time employees of the District. Aides work as drop-in Reading and Writing tutors to support students' development in writing across the curriculum and may also be scheduled in LEAD classrooms (basic skills reading and writing). Openings for these positions will be posted under the Classified section at Butte's Human Resources web site: http://admin.butte.cc.ca.us/jobs/

Interns are currently-enrolled CSUC graduate students who need tutoring and/or classroom experience. To inquire about internships, contact Miya Squires, CAS Coordinator: squiresmi@butte.edu

Our volunteer program is currently in the process of being established. Information will be posted here as it is available.
