Alternate Media

What is Alternate Media?

Alternate Media is a specialized way of presenting printed materials. Examples of Alternate Media are:
  • Braille
  • Large print
  • Electronic text (e-text)
  • Audio files such as MP3
  • Tactile graphics

Who can use Alternate Media?

Students or staff with a documented print disability are eligible to obtain Alternate Media materials.

What is a print disability?

  • Visual impairment: blindness or low vision
  • Processing impairment: any disability that interferes with individual's access to printed material

How do I find out if I can get Alternate Media?
