Butte College Seeks High Schools
for 6th Annual Chemistry Day

Butte College is seeking high schools to participate in its 6th Annual Chemistry Day to be held Friday, April 15 at the main campus, 3536 Butte Campus Drive.

“The purpose of the event is to bring local high school chemistry students to the college for a day of fun, education, and competition,” said Dr. Steve Sincoff, Butte College Chemistry Instructor.

Sincoff said teams compete in “Chem Bowl” (similar to the TV show “Jeopardy”) to test their knowledge of chemistry; “Wheel of Nomenclature” (similar to “Wheel of Fortune”) to see how well they know nomenclature and the naming of compounds; two laboratory experiments (one acid/base titration experiment and one 5-test-tube mystery experiment); and a chemistry crossword puzzle. One of the days highlights will occur when a Physics department instructor will attempt his nap on a bed of nails.

Interested high schools should contact Butte College before prior March 11th at 895-2595.
